The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, promises to alter the nation’s passport application process if elected.
Speaking on September 1 during his Greater Accra Regional campaign trip, he claimed that if a person currently possesses a Ghana card, they will simply need to pay the requisite money to obtain a passport.
The NPP flagbearer said that “when I win power in December, passport acquisition will be very easy for all because with your Ghana card, you will only have to pay the required fee, and the passport will be printed for you. You will not need to fill any form again.”
In preparation for the elections on December 7, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and party leaders made voter outreach visits to four constituencies.
The NPP flagbearer visited four churches during the delegation’s initial visit to the Weija-Gbawe constituency.
During this electioneering season, Dr. Bawumia challenged the public with pursuing peace.
“What we need in Ghana now is prayers because we are going into an election. Election is about exercising of one’s opinion. We don’t want any violence to mar it.,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia met and greeted the people of the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, talking with them about the promises he made in his manifesto.
Later, he addressed a crowd to lay out his plans and goals for the nation.
Elder Emmanuel Tobbin, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Anyaa-Sowutuom, pledged that his party would receive 75% of the legitimate votes cast in the constituency.
“I and you must work hard towards the elections ahead of us. We have to even work harder to give the new patriotic party 75 percent vote in this constituency” he stated.
He also made fun of John Dramani Mahama, his primary opponent, saying,” We don’t need day old chicks neither do we need 24-hour discotheque in Ghana. We rather need minds that can proffer solutions to complex problems.”
The Vice President spoke with chiefs and grassroots NPP supporters in the same constituency as members of Pentecost University’s Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON).
In addition, the NPP campaign team made stops at the Ngleshie Amanfrom and Obom-Domeabra constituencies, urging eligible voters to back the party in the next elections.
