Mr. Alan Kyerematen has formally submitted his nomination as an independent contender for the 2024 presidential elections, marking a turning point in Ghana’s political history.
This daring approach suggests a possible new chapter in the politics of the country by challenging the long-standing dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During a ceremony on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, which was witnessed by the Electoral Commissioner and her deputies, Mr. Kyerematen persuasively argued against the “winner-takes-all” political system and in favor of a government of national unity.
He maintained that Ghana needs an independent president at this crucial time who can bring the nation together, heal its wounds, and lead the revolutionary change that it sorely needs.
Ghana has long struggled with corruption, which hinders economic development and erodes public confidence in the government.
Notwithstanding many assurances, the NDC and NPP have failed to adequately tackle the issue.
With little accountability from the government, illegal mining, often known as “Galamsey,” continues to harm the environment and endanger public health.
Kyerematen provides a detailed approach for addressing these issues.
His youthful running mate, Mr. Kwame Owusu Danso, a broadcast journalist, lawyer, and youth activist, has added even more vigor to his campaign.
