The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former president John Mahama should be soundly defeated in the 2024 elections, according to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate. This will essentially “retiring” them from politics.
The NPP is fighting tooth and nail to hold onto power ahead of the 2024 elections, and the Ashanti Region is expected to be a major battlefield.
A hotly contested election is anticipated in response to Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s call for the NDC to suffer a humiliating defeat, and the NPP appears well-positioned to fulfill this pledge given their robust grassroots presence in the area.
Speaking at the NPP’s health walk in the Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Prempeh said he was certain the NPP will win but stressed the importance of a decisive victory that would drive the NDC out of politics.
He stressed that the people in the area must provide a great deal of support and donations in order to accomplish this aim, and he urged party members to start vigorous campaigns in order to ensure the NPP wins with overwhelming margins.
The comments made by Dr. Prempeh highlight the NPP’s will to hang onto office and fortify its position of influence in the Ashanti Region. The party is stepping up its campaign efforts as the 2024 polls get near, mobilizing followers to guarantee a resounding victory.
A tough political race is expected in the next elections after the health walk, which attracted hundreds of NPP members, showed the party’s robust grassroots presence in the region.
