In the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting for the 2024 presidential elections on December 7, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has clinched a favorable position.
At the EC’s voting ceremony on Friday in Accra, NPP Director of Elections Evans Nimako selected the party’s choice. On the ballot paper, the NPP will be mentioned prominently.
The All People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, took ninth place, while the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), came in eighth.
Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) got the seventh spot, while Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) selected number five.
Independent candidates for the forthcoming presidential election on December 7, 2024, were also given their places on the ballot paper after the Electoral Commission (EC) balloting procedure on September 20, 2024.
The independent candidate Kofi Koranteng won the tenth place, while George Twum Barima will run in the eleventh. The Movement for Change will be listed last at number 13, while the New Force Movement, led by Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), is positioned 12th.
The forthcoming election will be a vibrant contest as both political parties and independent candidates compete for the president as these independent candidates take on the nine eligible political parties.
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, had earlier said that a number of presidential candidates would not be allowed to run in the elections scheduled for December 7, 2024, because they had neglected to make the necessary corrections to their nomination papers.
The rejected candidates did not fulfill the standards, even though they had plenty of opportunity to rectify the concerns.
Two disqualified candidates are Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) and Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC).
