200 scholarships for the 2024–2025 academic year have been given by the MTN Ghana Foundation to continuing students at public tertiary institutions in the country.

The recipients of the MTN Bright Scholarship get reimbursed for their laptop, books, accommodation, tuition, and books.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, in the Law Faculty of the KNUST in Kumasi, Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, disclosed it.

The Foundation, according to him, received 1,500 applications, of which 400 were shortlisted, and 200 were chosen as the ultimate beneficiaries.

Robert Kuzoe went on to say that the main goal of MTN’s 2018 scholarship program is to aid students who are economically disadvantaged and lower the percentage of dropouts caused by financial hardship.

He stressed that fulfilling a promise made during its 20th anniversary celebration in 2016, MTN Ghana initiated the Bright Scholarship to support deserving students.

This initiative underscores MTN’s commitment to empowering Ghana’s youth and investing in their future.

By providing financial assistance, MTN seeks to ease economic pressures on vulnerable students, reduce school dropout rates and foster academic excellence.

He underlined that since its establishment, the MTN Bright Scholarship has changed lives by enabling students to concentrate on their studies without having to worry about finances.

Robert Kuzoe reaffirmed that MTN’s commitment to the advancement of Ghana and its people is demonstrated by its investments in education.

Since its launch in 2018, the MTN Bright Scholarship has helped over 520 students pursue their studies by paying for their computers, tuition, housing, and stipends.

Mr Kuzo also emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to diversity, noting that 20 of the 200 students who received awards this year are individuals living with disabilities. He said that this shows MTN’s commitment to diversity.

The MTN Ghana Foundation, he explained, “continues to invest in education because it can bridge the poverty gap and foster innovation among the people in the communities we operate in.”

The recipients showered MTN with compliments and urged other businesses to follow suit.
