The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted rumors that the process of printing ballots for the general elections of 2024 has begun, emphasizing that it has not yet done so.
Rather, on Friday, October 11, 2024, Notices of Polls for the Presidential and Legislative elections began to be printed.
The EC addressed public concerns on the lack of ballot statistics prior to the purported commencement of the printing process in a statement released on Friday.
The Commission gave the public the assurance that voting paper printing won’t start until candidates, political parties, and other pertinent parties have received the required voting data.
“We would like to assure the General Public that the printing of ballot papers has not commenced. Printing of Notices of Polls for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, however, begins on Friday, 11th October, 2024,” the EC clarified in its statement.
Reiterating that no ballots will be printed until all interested parties are informed, the Commission reaffirmed its dedication to transparency.
“Printing of ballot papers will only commence after ballot statistics have been provided to all Stakeholders. The Commission will not depart from this practice,” the statement indicated.
In addition, the Electoral Commission (EC) urged the public and political organizations to have faith in the electoral process, promising transparent, legitimate, and equitable elections in December 2024.
