NDC launches “Operation looking for the Umbrella” campaign to avoid ‘skirt and blouse’

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition, today launched “Operation Looking For The Umbrella,” a voter education program designed to make sure that voters who support John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates have an easy time casting ballots on December 7.

The exhortation for voters to abstain from “skirt and blouse” voting, highlighting the significance of voting directly for the NDC ticket, is at the heart of this campaign.

To assist lower the number of ballots that are rejected, the party has distributed sample and dummy ballots around the country in advance of the polls.

In a statement dated October 13, 2024, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT, listed essential actions voters must take to guarantee the validity of their ballots.

In addition to making sure there was a validation stamp on the back and that it was from the Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC), he advised people to check their ballots for stains.

‘If there are any concerns about the ballot paper’s validity, voters should seek assistance from the presiding officer or trained NDC polling agents.

We are determined to implement Operation Looking For The Umbrella in order to vote for John Dramani Mahama and ALL NDC Parliamentary Candidates.

No skirt and blouse voting!!!

As a result, pieces of SAMPLE/DUMMY ballot papers have been distributed across the country in order to cure/reduce REJECTED BALLOTS in the general elections on December 7.

When you receive the ballot paper, first, check:

1. for any STAINS,
2. ⁠if the ballot paper has a validation stamp at the back, and
3. ⁠if the stamp is that of the EC of Ghana (you can ask).

NB: There must be no stains! There must be EC’s validation stamp at the back!!

When in doubt, ask the Presiding Officer or the very well-trained, NDC Polling Agents.

Insist that a suspicious ballot is changed before you vote and let ‘the world’ know about it immediately!

To vote for CHANGE:

1. Look for the Umbrella ,
2. Thumbprint HORIZONTALLY in the empty box on its right,
3. Clean the ink from your stained thumb and fingers, and
4. Fold the ballot paper along its LONGEST LENGTH first before folding again, and
5. Drop your ballot in the appropriate ballot box.
