2024 Election: EC to reprint ballot papers for Volta, Ahafo regions over serial number errors

Due to incorrect serial numbers, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that all ballots for the Volta and Ahafo regions will need to be reprinted.

At an emergency IPAC meeting on Friday, November 15, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, made the announcement.

He clarified that the Commission has sent teams to the printing company to correct the irregularities and has taken significant action to address the problem.

The Commission decided to reprint the papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions after he pointed out that there are still holes in them.

Mr. Tettey added that the Commission has decided to use Acts Commercials and Buck Press to print the legislative and presidential ballots for the two regions.

“We wish to inform you that we will share the printing timetable with you by the close of today,” he said.

A certificate of destruction will be signed by all parties present during the procedure, and copies will be given to each party, he noted, adding that plans for the disposal of the faulty votes will also be communicated with political parties and stakeholders.

An earlier implication that the defective ballots were to be recalled has been corrected in this item. The EC clarifies that a recall is not necessary because those ballots have not yet been delivered to the appropriate regions.
