The Kumasi Traditional Council has refuted claims that it threatened Akwasi Addai Odike, the man who founded the United Progressive Party (UPP), with violence.

This comes after Odike urged the young to rebel against the chiefs if they don’t do their part to stop the threat of illegal mining.

The member of the Council, Nana Osei Kweku, claimed during an interview on Happy FM’s morning show that no one in the council had made any plans or threats to harm Odike.

There have been allegations that Manhyia wants to harm Odike, but no one is actively planning to do Odike harm.

He was recently called by the Traditional Council, he said.

After Odike made the remarks on their platform, the Kumasi Traditional Council ordered the management of Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM and TV to temporarily suspend operations.

Members of the Council have called his remarks offensive and insulting.
