It has come to light that the Chief of Staff’s office spent more than 240 million pounds on supplies and services just for the year 2020.

This is stated in the document containing the Office of the President’s expense returns that was provided to the Parliamentary Finance Committee.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the committee’s ranking member, said that the expenditure in question had increased by more than 1000% since 2016.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Forson asserted that the significant increase is evidence of the Akufo-Addo administration’s poor economic management.

“I can tell you that this amount is not useful, it is just way too much because I am comparing it to the amount we’ve spent in previous years. No government has spent this much before,” he disclosed in an interview with Joy monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com.

Dr. Forson explained that 90% of the funds were used for the purchase of vehicles.

President Akufo-Addo has debunked assertions that his administration’s incompetence is not to blame for the economy’s current problems.

He claims that the current global financial crisis is to blame for the nation’s financial predicament.

He emphasized that other economies have also been affected.

In reality, everyone agrees that the problems Ghana is experiencing today—and the reason we have returned to the IMF—are not the consequence of my poor management, as was the case under the previous administration.

He stated on Damango-based Pad FM in the Savannah Region that “the reality is that there is worldwide inflation, rising commodity prices, among others, and all these have been the major reasons for the troubles we are suffering as a country.”
