All political parties have been urged by Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) to accept the outcome of the forthcoming elections in December.
The public was reassured by Chairperson Jean Mensa that strong measures had been put in place to ensure that the elections would be free, fair, transparent, and peaceful.
She urged trust in the electoral process while speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, stressing the significance of preserving a calm and stable atmosphere during the voting process.
In the run-up to the general elections in 2024, Jean Mensa reiterated the Commission’s dedication to fostering peace.
She emphasized the Commission’s purposeful approach to transparency, accountability, and fairness in its operations and conveyed confidence in the EC’s capacity to hold a stable, violence-free election. She asserted that these initiatives are essential to fostering public confidence and guaranteeing a legitimate election.
In order to ensure a successful and peaceful election process, the EC Chairperson asked all parties, voters, and civil society organizations to maintain peace and unity.
“As a commission, I am pleased to note that we have walked the talk of peace. Mindful of the fact that attaining peaceful electoral outcomes will depend on our actions.
“We have, right from the start of our electoral processes, consciously operated and conducted ourselves in a manner that will ensure peace before, during and after the elections,” Jean Mensa said.
