Tain District Hospital’s surgeon and medical superintendent, Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako, has urged the government to think about transforming the district hospital into Bono Regional Hospital.

According to Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako, considering the hospital’s current infrastructure, which supports its role as a regional hospital, modernizing the institution is both necessary and feasible.

Major medical services are offered by the 60-bed Tain District Hospital, which is fully furnished with contemporary medical equipment.

In an interview with Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, Dr. Taah-Amoako stressed that the hospital’s potential for improvement is unaffected by its position outside of Bono Regional Capital.

He noted that since the Sunyani Regional Hospital was upgraded to a teaching hospital, there has been no replacement, making the Tain District Hospital an ideal candidate for regional hospital status.

Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako mentioned that upgrading the facility would increase human resources, economic viability, and infrastructure, including roads in the Tain District.

Adding that the facility would serve as a referral center while assuring management’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services in the Bono Region when upgraded.

Tain district hospital has chalked some remarkable success in healthcare delivery just after commissioning.

Notably, in the recent 2024 National Leadership Excellence Awards organized by the Ghana Health Service, the hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Taah-Amoako, was adjudged the 2nd Runner-Up at the district level.

Additionally, the Tain District Hospital received the Institutional Excellence Award as the 2nd Runner-Up for Primary Level Hospitals.

Reacting to the awards, Dr. Taah-Amoako attributed the facility’s success to the hard work and professionalism of the staff in delivering quality healthcare for visitors.

He noted that the facility has been effective, citing improvements in hospital equipment and the dedication of the hospital staff.

In order to offer primary healthcare to the residents of Nsawkaw and the surrounding areas, the hospital was first founded in 1965.

In 2010, however, Tain District Hospital was transformed from a health center to a hospital by Ghana Health Service.

Former President John Agyekum Kuffour established nine Euroget hospitals, including the District Hospital.

According to Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako, the 60-bed Tain District Hospital’s scope of work encompasses the design of all project disciplines, the construction of all buildings and systems, the provision and installation of medical and non-medical furniture and equipment, as well as training, warranty, and maintenance.

General medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, and dental clinics are examples of outpatient facilities.
