John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former president, has called the election scheduled for December 7 a crucial turning point for Ghana.

At the final rally held at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra, Mr. Mahama addressed supporters, emphasizing the importance of the vote as a decision between the country’s current situation and a vision for a better, more prosperous future.

“Saturday’s election is not just another election. It is a defining moment for our nation. It is a choice between the Ghana we have and the Ghana we want—a Ghana of opportunity, prosperity, and justice for all,” he stated on Thursday, December 5.

In his vision for the nation, the NDC flagbearer pledged to provide opportunities for all facets of society. He promised to build a country where working people have access to long-term, well-paying employment, entrepreneurs flourish in a free and fair market, and the views of young people are heard.

He went on to say, “Women and girls deserve safety, true equality, and the opportunity to realize their full potential.”

Mr. Mahama pledged to carry out radical reforms, including as a lean government structure with no more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers, in order to rebuild public trust.

He also promised to start “Operation Return All Loot (ORAL),” a comprehensive program to collect embezzled money for the advancement of the country, in order to combat corruption.

“We will wage a relentless war on corruption with dedicated zeal, retrieving stolen loot for the country’s development and the benefit of our youth,” he declared.

Again, Mr Mahama assured Ghanaians of economic measures to curb inflation, stabilise food prices, and build a 24-hour economy capable of creating millions of jobs, adding that “Every Ghanaian deserves leadership that puts the people first, fights corruption, and builds a nation we can all be proud of.”

Alhaji Said Sinare, the former vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that the party has to win the general elections that are scheduled for this Saturday, December 7.

Speaking during the party’s last rally, which took place at Zurak Park in Madina on Thursday, December 5, 2024, was the former vice chairman.

Addressing the  party supporters, Alhaji Sinare emphasized the election’s crucial significance for the NDC and asked participants to remain watchful and determined as they cast their ballots.

Alhaji Sinare urged the gathering to show steadfast resolve, saying, “This election is a must-win for the NDC, and we have no excuse to give Ghanaians other than to win it by hook or crook.”
