The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has said that it will go on strike once more if the government fails to properly reimburse them for the unpaid Compulsory Arbitration Awards from their NLC.
If the funds do not appear in their accounts by December 20, 2024, they say, they will go on strike.
In a statement, the Association claimed that the government had misled them about the May 2, 2023, National Labour Commission (NLC) mandatory arbitration award.
As of December 16, 2024, the Association reported that the All-Year-Round Compensation, which was due on August 31, 2024, had not yet been paid.
Only four of the 46 colleges have received complete payment, according to the association’s statement.
“We are by this release, reminding the employer that if by December 20, 2024 we do not see the NLC’s Compulsory Arbitration Awards being fully implemented and the associated monies reflecting in our members’ accounts, we shall advise ourselves and no amount of talks or interventions from any quarters shall get us to rescind our decision”.
“We consider this promised and failed attitude of the employer to be a deliberate attempt to eventually deny us what is due us”.
“From the foregoing development, it is obvious that the employer is deliberately denying us our legitimate Compulsory Arbitration Awards for no justifiable reasons” the statement added.
