Concern has been sparked by a fire that broke out at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools early on Tuesday. The building was used to store vote boxes from the Greater Accra Region’s Ablekuma North constituency.

According to reports, the school library, where the election papers were stored, is where the fire began at around 1:40 a.m.

The fire was not entirely extinguished, but firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service managed to contain it for more than two hours.

According to Fire Service Public Relations Officer Alex King Nartey, investigations are being conducted to ascertain the conditions that led to the occurrence, although the origin of the fire is yet unknown.

Burned ballots were found outside the school following the fire, which added to the mystery.

This has increased mistrust and stoked conjecture over the possible causes of the fire.

The operations commander and firefighters were able to confine the fire and stop it from spreading to other areas of the school.

Due to the effective salvaging of adjacent buildings, the impacted area’s damage was minimized.

The degree of the damage to the election materials kept in the library is presently being evaluated by authorities.

Additionally, they are trying to piece together the series of events that resulted in the fire and the subsequent finding of the ballot papers that were burned.

The sensitive nature of the information involved and the incident’s possible ramifications for the current political process have caused concern.
