Alive Chapel International Church founder and general overseer Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako’s 16-year-old son, who was involved in the deadly accident in East Legon in Accra, was given a six-month prison sentence at a senior correctional facility for his involvement in the incident.
Among the charges were two counts of manslaughter, reckless driving, driving without a license, and carelessly inflicting harm.
This year’s October collision claimed the lives of two adolescent girls when the boy, who was driving his parents’ Jaguar F-Pace Sport, collided with a black Acura.
The teenager and a companion drove the car to the A&C Mall, where they met two other pals in other SUVs, the prosecutors said.
The adolescent led the gang in the Jaguar as they traveled through the East Legon region in a convoy, which ultimately resulted in the tragic incident.
At the beginning of the Family and Juvenile Court proceedings, the adolescent entered a not guilty plea to every charge. He was sentenced as a result of later changing his plea and acknowledging guilt to the several offenses.
During the sentencing process, the court also discussed the terms of his care and incarceration.
Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife, Mouha Amoako, and their sales assistant, Linda Bonsu Prempeh, were all detained in connection with the incident that occurred.
They were accused of “permitting an unlicensed person to drive” and were later given GH¢50,000 bail apiece, along with two sureties. To the charges, all three entered not guilty pleas.
On the same conditions, Linda Bonsu Prempeh, who is suspected of giving the teen the car keys, was also released on bond.
