John Dramani Mahama, the president-elect, has stated that he intends to become a full-time farmer after leaving politics.
In an interview, Mahama, who has always had a strong interest in farming, highlighted his close ties to the industry by discussing his plans while touring his farms in Yapei and Busunu over the weekend.
He emphasized his dedication to farming and his wish to go back to his origins after his political career is over.
If he hadn’t entered politics, Mahama said, he would have been a full-time farmer.
“Farming is my life. I love it. I am sure if I didn’t go into politics I would be a full-time farmer. In any case, when I retire after this stint, of course, I am going to go into full-time farming.
“If you want to see me, you will have to come here unto the farm,” he added.
