Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the Asantehen, has encouraged Kofi Adams, the recently appointed Minister of Sports and Recreation, to keep a tight eye on the Black Stars to make sure that no one gives their own players opportunity.

After the minister’s visit, Otumfuo addressed him and acknowledged the senior national team’s notable decline in recent years, which he blames on nepotism from high-ranking Ghana Football Association officials.

In addition to missing out on a chance to get a ticket to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) event, the Black Stars have not advanced past the group stage in any of their previous three competitions.

“The Black Stars have been disgraceful these days. You have to get the Black Stars on the winning track,” Otumfuo challenged Kofi Adams.

“Make sure the technical team invites players who deserve to be in the national team. No other person should be allowed to bring their players to the team.”

As the Black Stars prepare to play Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month, Ghanaians will be closely monitoring that request.
