Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the leader of the minority, has stated that the opposition will not be deterred by political persecution or intimidation and that they will remain resolute and regain power in the 2028 elections.
Speaking on Tuesday, March 25, during the discussion of the 2025 Budget Statement, Afenyo-Markin charged that the Mahama administration was harassing political rivals by using state institutions.
“You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” Afenyo-Markin declared.
He also criticized what he called the governing party’s abuse of the legal system to stifle opposition, contending that national development, not political witch-hunting, should be the emphasis of governance.
“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he cautioned.
Afenyo-Markin urged his colleagues in the opposition to remain steadfast and not be deterred by what he called “politically motivated arrests.”
He gave supporters his word that the Minority is still dedicated to upholding democracy and ensuring that the administration is held responsible.
