The former Member of Parliament(MP) for Dome Kwabenya for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sarah Adwoa Safo, has been upset with the party’s disciplinary committee for not telling her that her scheduled appearance had been postponed.
When Adwoa Safo showed up at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Monday, April 7, ready for her hearing, she found that there was no committee in session. She only had one meeting with a party official instead.
The party handed her a summons notice on Sunday without informing her of any modifications to the plans, which led to this development.
“I had an engagement with a national party officer, but there was no hearing,” Adwoa Safo said.
“I’m left wondering why I was served a summons on a Sunday for a meeting that didn’t take place. If there was a change of plans, why wasn’t I personally informed?”
Adwoa Safo emphasized the need for the party to handle such matters with professionalism and seriousness.
“As a party, we need to take these matters more seriously,” she stated.
“I came here ready for the committee meeting, but now I find myself in a situation where there’s no hearing, no committee, and no explanation.”
The ex-MP questioned why she was called to a disciplinary committee that wasn’t even in session.
“The message being sent to the public is that I have done something wrong… but there is no one here, which suggests the case is either baseless or there is no finding on it.”
Notwithstanding her displeasure, Adwoa Safo reaffirmed her dedication to the party and stated that she would be available for any disciplinary hearings in the future.
