A heartbreaking incident at Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi has captured public attention after reports emerged on social media about a male student called Abass allegedly jumping from the third floor of the school’s administration block.
The student, believed to be an assistant prefect, is said to have died on Tuesday following the fall. The incident, which was captured in a viral video, has since triggered a wave of speculation online, with many sharing unverified accounts of what may have led to the tragedy.
Abass, a Form Three student at Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after falling from the top level of the administration building.
Since then, the deceased’s body has been buried in accordance with Islamic custom.
Although the management was not aware of Abass’s suicidal thoughts, sources within the school indicate that he had been experiencing them for a while.
Students and staff allegedly rushed to the scene after Abass, an acting Boys’ Prefect and business student, fell during school hours.
He was sent right away to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but upon arrival, he was declared dead.
Some reports claim the student was earlier found in a classroom with a female student and was subsequently taken to the school’s counselling office. Others suggest his mother was invited to the school for a discussion, during which the boy reportedly made threats of self-harm threats that were allegedly not taken seriously.
It is said that after the meeting, his mother asked him to retrieve her bag from the second floor, but instead, he went up to the third floor and jumped.
To verify the facts, Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Ama Nyame visited the school. The school Academic office officially confirmed the incident but stated that the matter had been referred to the Regional Director of Education, and therefore, no further details could be shared at the school level.
