The Accra High Court lifted an injunction on highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s burial plans, allowing the service to go tomorrow, ending what was predicted to be a significant blow for his larger family.

In a decision rendered earlier today, the court emphasized that the case’s merits must be appropriately taken into account and stated that affidavits presented to it indicated the immediate family had been neglected in the funeral arrangements.

Both parties’ attorneys were called back to court, and the judge mandated that the applicants show up by 2:00 pm today and deposit GH¢2 million into court to cover the costs of the funeral arrangements.

Due to the applicants’ failure to fulfill the deadline, their plea was dismissed, removing the legal obstacle and permitting the scheduled funeral festivities to proceed.

The family can now move forward with final preparations, according to Thomas Kwadwo Osei, the family head’s attorney, who called the court’s ruling a great relief.

Family members and supporters who were already in Kumasi and preparing for the solemn occasion were alarmed by the court’s earlier injunction, which had temporarily stopped scheduled events. The funeral plans will begin tomorrow after the applicants’ plea was denied.
