The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with two major robbery incidents including the murder of 28-year-old Silver Ngozi at Asokore Mampong.
According to police, Silver Ngozi was attacked and killed during a robbery on December 6, 2025. Following intelligence, two suspects linked to the murder were arrested at their hideout in Aboabo on December 12 by a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Anti-Robbery Unit.
Two of the accused, Salim Mohammed, 19, a rickshaw rider, and Farouk Iddris, 20, a motorbike mechanic, allegedly confessed to robbing Ms. Ngozi on December 6 at around 5:00 p.m.
Mohammed, the motorcycle’s pillion rider, allegedly used a zigzag-edged knife to attack the victim, according to the police. The weapon was recovered from Iddris’ room, along with a machete, other knives, and the deceased’s iPhone 11 Pro.
A number of armed robberies in Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and nearby communities were admitted to by the remaining suspects, Abdul Fatawu, popularly known as “UN,” 22; Philip Nyarko, also known as “Kawawa,” 24; and Samak Hadi, also known as “Toronto,” 21.
Items recovered during the raids included 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets and five laptops.

The arrests were announced at a press briefing held at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters on Monday December 15, 2025 Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will soon be processed for court. Authorities also urged the public to report suspicious activities to help ensure safety during the festive season.
