Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister of the Interior, has implemented a curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surroundings in the Northeast Region from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, on the recommendation of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument.
The ministry called for “chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them” in a statement announcing the development.
Furthermore, “non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area” was encouraged in the statement dated December 18, 2025.
Additionally, the ministry issued a warning that anyone discovered in the Nalerigu municipality and its surroundings with guns, ammunition, or other objectionable items will be detained and prosecuted.
According to government, the following are also banned:
– No movement of motorbikes.
– No wearing of smocks.
– No selling of fuel in containers.
– Unlawful assembly
