John Dramani Mahama, the president of Ghana, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to moral leadership and service to the populace, especially the young, the weak, and those who feel left out of the country’s development program.
“And so today we recommit to ethical leadership. We recommit ourselves to service above self. We recommit ourselves to governance anchored in integrity, competence, and compassion. We recommit ourselves to listening, especially to the voices of our vulnerable, our youth, and those who feel excluded,” he said.
Mr. Mahama urged Ghanaians to embrace unity, integrity, and service above self during a Thanksgiving service held at the Jubilee House in Accra to commemorate his return to the nation’s high office. He emphasized that the government’s progress is measured not only in statistics but also in restored hope and trust.
While conceding that there is still much work to be done, President Mahama also took the opportunity to consider the accomplishments of his government.
He asked Ghanaians to view the current milestone as a chance to recommit to inclusive, competent, and compassionate governance.
“The work we have begun is far from finished, but today reminds us that progress is not measured only by numbers and by charts and diagrams. It is also measured by hope that is restored, by trust that is rebuilt, and correct direction that is regained,” President Mahama said.
“My fellow countrymen and women, the year ahead will demand even more from us. It will test our resolve, our patience, and our discipline. But it will also offer us opportunities to deepen the reforms we have started, to accelerate our growth, and ensure that development and progress touch every part of our country,” president Mahama added.
The President emphasized that leadership should always be seen as stewardship and called on both citizens and public authorities to face the upcoming year with courage, humility, and empathy.
To commemorate the first year of President Mahama’s administration, which has concentrated on reestablishing economic stability, encouraging inclusive governance, and bolstering moral leadership throughout state institutions, government officials, traditional leaders, and religious representatives gathered for the Thanksgiving service at the seat of government.
