The Concerned Drivers Association has demanded that Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister of Transportation, be removed immediately for allegedly failing to make significant progress in the transportation industry.
According to David Agboado, the Association’s public relations officer, the demand is consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s mission to “rebuild and reset Ghana,” which he added calls for new ideas, bold action, and strong leadership across all sectors.
Mr. Agboado claims that although several ministers are making noticeable advancements in their fields, the Minister of Transport is not.
“Most sectors are performing and improving in Ghana, but our sector Minister is not delivering,” he said.
Mr. Agboado stated this during an interview on the evening news segment of Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, January 15, 2026 monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com.
“We need to be honest and stop pretending when it’s obvious that things aren’t functioning.”
He emphasized that the Transport Minister needs to implement specific actions to assist commercial transport operators, especially by easing the importation of vehicles to alleviate the strain on drivers and enhance service provision for the public.
“Mr. Agboado pointed out that improved efforts from the Minister could provide commercial operators access to vehicles for enhanced service to the public.”
He additionally emphasized that the Association’s call for the Minister’s dismissal does not imply they desire just a straightforward substitution with comparable effectiveness.
“We do not require an additional Minister who does not meet expectations.”
“We require a Minister who will take action and advance the transport sector,” he stated.
Mr. Agboado queried why the Minister persists in his position despite what he termed ongoing difficulties in the sector, asserting that Ghana’s reset agenda can only thrive if all Ministers are made accountable for outcomes.
