A significant reshuffle is presently taking place within the leadership of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, in a bid to bolster leadership and improve the operational effectiveness of the service, has implemented prompt changes in the senior officers.
A formal notice released by the Police Administration revealed the reassignment of multiple Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to different positions within the Service.
As part of the changes, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba has transitioned from his position as Director General/Technology to take on the role of Director General/NAPD, whereas COP Iddi Lansah Seidu has been shifted from Director General/Welfare to serve as Director General/Technology.
Furthermore, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has transitioned from Director General/Operations to Director General/Research and Planning, with COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe assuming the role of Director General/Operations after relocating from the Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB).
Additional changes involve DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey, who has transitioned from Director General/Research and Planning to Director General/PPSB, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful, who has been shifted from Director General/NAPD to Director General/Welfare.
The reorganization also impacted multiple regional and technical commands. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been designated as the Regional Commander of the Eastern Sector (ESR), while DCOP Isaac Asante has been transferred from the Eastern Region to the National Headquarters.
At the same time, DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi has taken on the role of Regional Commander for the Central Region, while DCOP George Ankomah transitions from Central MTTD/AR to become the Regional Commander for the Eastern North Region (ENR).
In a different reorganization, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, previously the Director of ICT at the National Headquarters, has been assigned to lead Central MTTD/AR.
The IGP claims that the postings are a component of continuous changes meant to improve service delivery within the Ghana Police Service, reinforce leadership, and increase operational effectiveness.
