Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the newly elected flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling him a devoted party man who has a strong desire to bring the party back to power and a strong love for Ghana.
Following his victory in the NPP’s presidential primaries on January 31, Dr. Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, paid him a courtesy call. The former president made the comments in a post on Wednesday.
Touching on their lengthy political alliance, Nana Akufo-Addo recalled selecting Dr. Bawumia as his running mate eighteen years ago. As a result, they ran side by side in four elections.
“I know his mind, his character, his love for Ghana, and his appetite for hard work. He is loyal to party and country,” the former President stated.
He expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia has what it takes to bring the NPP back to election victory with the support of its funders and the party’s grassroots.
“With the full support of our rank and file and the continued generosity of our supporters, I know that he will lead us back to victory,” Nana Akufo-Addo stated.
