KNUST student dies after fall from second floor of Hostel

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the passing of a second-year student, Ransford Amankwah Asomani, after he fell from an off-campus hostel in Ayeduase.

In a statement released on Monday, February 9, 2026, and endorsed by the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, management confirmed that the deceased was enrolled in a BSc in Agribusiness Management.

Preliminary reports indicate that Asomani plunged from the second floor of the hostel during the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026. Colleagues hurried him to the KNUST Hospital with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team, but he was “pronounced dead on arrival.”

The university stated that the family has been notified, and the body has been taken to the hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.

Management characterized the event as tragic, stating it received the information “with deep sadness,” and offered condolences to the grieving family and the university community.
