Governance without knowledge is a gamble – Kufour

“My own political tradition has always held that governance without knowledge is a gamble,” former President Agyekum Kufour has stated.

His excellency John Agyekum Kufuor has advocated for a new leadership approach in Ghana, based on knowledge, evidence, and robust institutions instead of slogans and hollow rhetoric.

He emphasized that the country needs leadership that focuses on collaborative action and prioritizes enduring, sustainable growth.

He delivered the comments at a meeting of academics and public thinkers discussing Ghana’s independence as an ongoing endeavor, examining how the nation has historically dealt with political, economic, and social issues while planning for the future.

“There is a particular kind of leadership Ghana must usher in, building on our collective endeavours one that understands the difference between sounds and signals. One that resists the lure of slogans and insists instead on evidence, on historical precedent, and on the patient work of institution building,” Kufuor stated.

He additionally stressed that governance should be informed by expertise and experience, cautioning that leadership lacking this foundation could jeopardize national progress.

The event urged citizens and policymakers to reconsider Ghana’s development path and enhance institutions that can guide the country through upcoming uncertainties.
