The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), has suspended its nationwide strike after the government’s request for additional time for negotiations.
The Association stated that the National Executive Committee of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, made the decision following a review of the government’s appeal for a fourteen-day period to resolve issues regarding the Salary Structure and Conditions of Service for its members.
In a press conference on Monday, March 17, Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, stated that the suspension of the industrial action aims to create an opportunity for discussions and a peaceful resolution of the concerns.
The Association previously initiated a nationwide strike due to unresolved issues concerning the introduction of a new Salary Structure and enhanced service conditions for its members in the civil and local government sectors
The leadership of the Association has directed all members to return to work on Tuesday, March 24.
The National Executive Committee expressed hope that the period granted to the government would lead to meaningful engagement and a lasting solution to the concerns raised by the union.
The Association further encouraged members to adhere completely to the directive and return to their duties as planned.
