NDC administration would implement highly effective crisis management strategies.

The current negotiations between Ghana and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to former president John Dramani Mahama, ought to be the final ones of their sort.

He contends that in order to maintain economic stability without ever turning to the IMF, the nation must develop sustainable policies.

He attributed the current economic problems to macroeconomic instability and “government’s borrowing spree” in an interview with VOA on Wednesday.

Therefore, Mr. Mahama voiced his discontent with the economy and emphasized that the country’s current negotiations with the international lender ought to be the last.

“This should be the last time we go to the IMF. Going and coming really creates a certain instability in the whole system and it also reduces the faith that people have in our democracy”, Mahama stated.

In response to the current economic challenges, the former president pledged that the incoming NDC administration would implement highly effective crisis management strategies.

According to him, the party would take into account actions like reviewing some provisions of the 1992 Constitution and establishing domestic policies that will encourage economic activity.

Mahama’s comments come at a time when a number of other economic issues, including fiscal imbalances, are plaguing the nation.
