According to President Nana Akuffo Addo, his dedication to the battle against corruption has been validated by the continuous prosecution of individuals from the previous administration and even from this one.
My commitment to fighting the canker is demonstrated by the extensive legislation I have sponsored to strengthen the legal framework for handling corrupt activities, including the CHRAJ, EOCO, and the Judiciary, he continued.
These remarks were delivered by President Nana Akuffo Addo during an interview on Captain Koda’s morning show dubbed “Nyansapo” on Otec FM in Kumasi on October 17, 2022.
According to him, he has never hesitated to support the Attorney General’s decision to charge anyone with a crime when there is proof, such as Adjenim Boateng, the former head of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).
“There are a whole lot of prosecutions on-going for the past government and even of this government. The head the former head of the Public Procurement Authority is on trial today for acts of corruption in my time,” he said.
“There is also a whole lot of legislation to strengthen the legal framework for dealing with the acts of corruption. All the corruption institutions like the police, the CHRAJ, the EOCO, the Judiciary among others have been strengthened,” he stated.
He said he had hope for the future of the country’s fight against corruption because of the establishment and activities of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
