Instead of pointing fingers and playing the victim, the nation should come together to find answers to the blazing economic problems, according to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
“Let us all work as one country to support our labour negotiations, find a solution to the impasse in parliament and rise above witch-hunting and entrapment,” On Friday, November 18, 2022, Mr. Ofori-Atta testified before the parliamentary ad hoc committee that is looking into seven claims against him in relation to a resolution of censure brought by the minority caucus.
Mr. Ofori-Atta also claimed during the hearing that he did not break the law when he withdrew money from the contingency vault to support the building of the national cathedral.
“National cathedral is 100 per cent owned by the state and is not the president’s cathedral as described by the proponents”, he said.
“Expenditures in respect of the national cathedral were made from the contingency vault under the other government obligations vault as has been the practice before my tenure”, added Mr. Ofori-Atta.
He said, “I have several copies of payments from the contingency vault dating back to 2015 to provide.
On Friday, November 18, 2022, he added, “Honorable co-chairs, as finance minister, I am well aware of the approval processes for use of the contingency funds and I have not infringed its criteria.
