Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that members of his own party are responsible for his audio tape’s leak, the basis for his ongoing legal case.

The besieged Chairman said in a still-to-air exclusive interview on Adom TV that the leaked recording is proof of the NDC’s cruelty when it comes to trying to ruin one of their own.

In support of his assertions, he claimed that internal traitors covertly taped his remarks in a meeting held behind closed doors and then transmitted the footage to the New Patriotic Party so that he might be charged.

He claims that as a result of the inside plotted treachery, he has been in court seventy times in all.

“When NDC wants to disgrace you, they first tag you as anti-Mahama. My own party folks recorded me at a meeting that I held with the party, with the people and went to sell the recording to the NPP, for which reason I’m standing trial. I’ve been to court 70 times”, he stated.

In addition to labeling someone as anti-Mahama, he claimed that certain party members will go to whatever lengths to make someone they hate dislike them.

He disclosed it on Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 PM, Sɛdea Ɛteɛ Nie, Adom TV’s weekend current affairs show.

Before the interview was broadcast, numerous NDC supporters voiced their anger with the National Chairman of the party’s remarks.

His detractors claim that his emotions are unwarranted since they will cause additional trouble for him and the party as a whole.

However, some have expressed sympathy for him and support for the alleged betrayal he endured.

They contend that the NDC Chairman’s admissions are understandable given his recent suffering and that he should not be reprimanded for them.

The decision of the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to remove Mr. Ofosu Ampofo from his position as the NDC’s National Chairman is currently posing a danger to that position as well.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia is hurriedly moving to seize control of the party as National Chairman before the 2024 general election in what has been called the major struggle in the party’s impending national delegates election.

Regarding this event, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said in the interview that has yet to air that Asiedu Nketia’s attempt to topple him was politically ineffective.

He said that prominent members of the party, including the Council of Elders and John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s 2020 flagbearer, had made attempts to stop the competition but to no effect.

However, the future national delegates conference will be held in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, on December 10, 2022.

A fresh group of executives will be chosen by eligible party delegates to run the party’s national operations for the ensuing four years.
