The National Service Scheme (NSS)’s Ashanti Regional Director, Alex Opoku-Mensah, abused one of the association’s members, and the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) plans to submit a formal complaint about it.
After becoming involved in an argument between a female nurse and a doctor who was later revealed to be his daughter, Opoku-Mensah was recorded.
The traumatized nurse and doctor had been taken out of the situation to receive counseling.
Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, president of the GRNMA, said the NSS Director’s actions on Wednesday (30 November) were insulting to the nursing profession.
She stated, “We are reporting this to the police. We are pursuing charges against the verbal abuse and threat of a nurse who was on duty.”
The GRNMA leader renewed requests for the National Service Scheme (NSS) regional director in Ashanti to be fired immediately due to the problem.
Madam Ofori-Ampofo stated that “One man, Alex Opoku-Mensah should not hold all the 32 million and over Ghanaians to ransom. He should be sacked; he is not fit to hold that position within the public service,”
