After the dispiriting Black Stars’ group-stage exit from the 2022 World Cup, Mohammed Kudus has assured Ghanaians that the team will do better the next time.
In their last group match against Uruguay on Friday, Ghana needed just a draw to go to the knockout round. However, they lost 2-0 at Al Janoub Stadium when Andre Ayew missed a critical penalty early in the game.
Many Ghanaians are outraged with the unsuccessful retaliation, which Mohammed Kudus completely understands and addressed in a tone that was quite civilized.
The 22-year-old Ajax star remarked in a post-game interview, “First, I want to really, really thank Ghanaians”.
“I know they are very disappointed right now, but I really want to thank them for their support from the start to today, even some flying all the way from Ghana to here to support.
“It has been incredible and we want to thank them for their prayers and their support and will keep improving as human beings and then we will do better next time.”
Kudus has been Ghana’s top performer at the World Cup. He had spectacular performances against Portugal and Uruguay in addition to a brace and an assist against South Korea.
According to reports, Jordi Cruyff, the sporting director for Barcelona, is keeping a close eye on his growth.
