The Eastern Regional Police Command is presently looking into allegations that Alex Tenge, a carpenter, killed his stepmother and grandfather after consuming wee-laced Sobolo.
Over the weekend, the suspect carried out the horrible murder at Okorase, close to Koforidua, in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
He is said to have butchered his stepmother Rita Agbabli Tenge, 40, for raising the alarm by beheading and chopping up his grandpa Tenge Sodzado, who was around 90 years old.
It is difficult to determine what motivated him to do such a crime.
Rita Tenge, the deceased mother, left behind four children: two boys and two girls, the oldest of whom is now 14 years old, and the youngest, who is just 9 months old.
The family is devastated by the occurrence, according to Francis Tenge’s widower, who also happens to be his son.
“I left my wife and father home Thursday morning to my hometown, I arrived at 9:30 pm. Then I had a call from my wife that Alex (suspect) had gone to a nearby house and attempted to strangle the girl in the house so the father was going to report at the police station” his father explained to media.
“I tried phoning back for an update on the police case, but my wife didn’t pick up the phone,” he said. Later, I learned that my son Alex had murdered both my father and wife.
“I found it to be really challenging, so I left the next day to return home. I now require counseling, as well as your prayers and support. Never before has my son misbehaved in that way.
I’m not sure what happened to him. I’m said that when he told cops that someone had given him sobolo”, he sobbed.
The suspect is being held by police to aid in the investigation while the remains have been sent to the mortuary at Eastern Regional Hospital for an autopsy.
