According to a voice that is thought to be that of the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu-Nketiah, the party’s senior lawyer during the 2020 election petition, Tsatsu Tsikata, initially did not think they had a case.

The individual speaking in the tape, which has been circulated widely on the messaging app WhatsApp, claimed that the NDC assembled papers and gave them to the renowned attorney after attempting to collate its results manually and using a faulty method.

He stated that Tsatsu Tsikata informed them he could not support the party with such proof since it held no weight after reviewing the documents that were provided to him.

He said that if they insisted on utilizing solely that evidence, the lawyer had even gone as far as to suggest that they search for another attorney.

“We then decided to go to Tsatsu Tsikata with the findings we had found. He also looked through them, and, in the morning, he called us to come back for our documents because, if that was what we were going to court with, then we should go and look for our lawyer because he could not lead us in that case.

“He also told us that he believed the Electoral Commission had breached a lot of provisions and the information that would prove that we actually won was in their system and should the EC Chairperson come to court and we are unable to defend it, it would be embarrassing,” Asiedu Nketia stated.

For the job of NDC National Chairman, Asiedu-Nketiah, often known as General Mosquito, is vying with Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

On Saturday, December 17, 2022, the NDC will convene its National Delegates Congress to elect new national executives.
