The discretionary reduction on the FOB value of products and the HDV of automobiles has been reversed, which has been welcomed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The change becomes effective on January 1st, 2023.

The Special Prosecutor stated in a statement on Thursday that the new guideline effectively closes off all potential ways for Customs Division officials to provide discretionary markdowns and eliminates opportunities for corruption and actions connected to corruption.

The action follows a number of investigations and interventions by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) at the Customs Division in response to the OSP’s investigative report on a complaint against Labianca Company Limited and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
