On Saturday, January 14, 2023, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, left Ghana to head a team to the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is a global campaign to promote sustainable development and improve economic, social, and environmental progress that is supported by the UAE and its renewable energy powerhouse Masdar.
In order to discuss and engage on ambitious climate action and technologies that will secure a more sustainable world for future generations, ADSW, which was founded in 2008, brings together heads of state, policy officials, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and youth.
The next day, on January 19, President Akufo-Addo will fly from Abu Dhabi to London for a six-day private visit.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Member of Parliament, the Minister for Energy, the Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, the Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, the Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, as well as representatives from the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry, were all present.
On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana. In his absence, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would preside over the country in line with Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
