Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh, a flagbearer candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged party members to vote for a new candidate to head the party in order to help it “break the eight.”

The party requires a fresh face who hasn’t served in the present administration, who is spotless, and who can bring the party together in preparation for the general elections in 2024, according to the former Member of Parliament for Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region.

“The records show that if you have a candidate who has been part of the outgoing government, you’re not likely to win,” According to Mr. Addai-Nimoh, who did not participate in President Akufo- Addo’s candidacy.

When Mr. Addai-Nimoh, who finished third in the party’s flagbearership contest in 2014, paid Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II a courtesy visit to mark Awukude3 and to formally announce his plan to run in the party’s presidential primary, he was speaking to the media.

In turn, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II prayed for Mr. Addai- Nimoh’s success in his bid to head the NPP.

Additionally, he pleaded with the party to choose a strong nominee to represent them in the general elections of 2024.

The NPP will remain in power, according to the former Mampong MP, but he noted that this success is dependent on three key problems.

According to him, the new face must be a candidate who can maintain party cohesion, enhance and solidify the performance of the NPP-led administration, and enable all NPP delegates to evaluate each potential candidate in order to choose the one who is best suited to head the party as its nominee.

“Given these three conditions, we have come to the conclusion that a roadblock will be inadvertently created for ourselves as a party if NPP delegates decide to choose a face that recognisably may be caught in the so-called fractured web.

“Will it not be best if we have a fresh new face? A face that nonetheless brings the needed experience and maturity with both the private and the public sectors while also beaming with hope and enthusiastic energy to serve the Ghanaian people” he added.
