According to Kwasi Amoako-Attah, Minister of Roads and Highways, Parliament should form a special commission to look into President Akufo- Addo’s assertions that his administration constructed the majority of the country’s roads during the Fourth Republic.
This will demonstrate that the President did not mislead, according to the Minister, who was discussing the State of the Nation Address.
His proposal was required by the Minority’s allegation that the President’s assertions are false.
Therefore, Mr. Amoako-Attah recommended to the Speaker “to set up an independent bi-partisan committee to investigate at my Ministry the facts of the data …the President under his leadership has done more work in the road sector.”
“I would like to state categorically that this government has built more roads than any government in the history of the 4th Republic,” the Road Minister repeated.
He further stated that the Ministry of Roads and Highways’ empirical evidence supports the specifics of the roads built during President Akufo- Addo’s government.
“Mr Speaker, this statement made by Mr President was factual, credible, the statement was dependable, the statement was incontestable, undisputed and above all, the statement is very viable to anybody who cares,” Amoako-Attah stated.
The Opposition agreed with the Highways Minister’s recommendation for a bipartisan investigation.
According to Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minority Chief Whip and Ranking Member on the Roads and Transport Committee, “he believes many people in the country doubt the data he provided and is offering that you direct the House to set up a bipartisan committee to investigate and verify the claim he has made.
