Ghana needs “default settings” to enable the economy to turn around – Mahama

According to Ghana’s former president John Dramani Mahama, “default settings” are required for the economy to recover.

The leading opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate highlighted that under Akufo- Addo’s rule,  businesses are failing as well as people are suffering.

The government, he claimed, is also pestering business owners with taxes and threatening to shut them down if they do not pay the taxes, regardless of the difficult times that businesses are going through.

According to Mr. Mahama, he would have chosen not to run for president again because he has already served his purpose, but because of the dire economic climate, he will be unable to sleep if he does not return and turn the economy around.

He declared that the country will be reset to its default settings by his successor’s administration in order to lay a firmer basis upon which future generations may build.

Mr Mahama was addressing delegates of the NDC in the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti region as part of his three-campaign tour of the region.

The visit by Mr. Mahama to all of the country’s constituencies is ongoing.

He has traveled a minimum of 2,708 kilometers to date to meet and speak with branch and constituency executives while visiting 47 constituencies in four regions.
