The late MP’s family has forbidden the Kumawu seat chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from joining the late MP’s funeral. This seat is in the Ashanti Region.

Additionally prohibited from attending the burial is Hon. Addai Agyekum, the district chief executive for the Sekyere Kumawu district.

The NPP’s Kumawu constituency leaders and the DCE have been requested by the family not to participate in any way in the events related to the burial of their son.

After a brief sickness, the late MP, Hon Philip Basoah, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The late MP, who passed away at age 54, was born on Tuesday, November 18, 1969.

In an interview with media on Friday, March 31, 2023, the late MP’s brother, Mr. Solomon Basoah, claimed that the DCE and other party officials in the district subjected his brother to numerous harsh treatment while he was still living.

He claimed that the late MP was accused of casting a curse on some party members by the DCE and officials, which he insisted was demonstrably untrue.

The same party members, he continued, were disseminating untruths about the late MP even while he was ill.

“The DCE together with some constituency executives ganged  up against my brother and sent out lies about him at the time he was battling for his life, they were circulating information that Hon Basoa had deliberately absented himself from his Parliamentary duties at the time the House was voting for the approval of ministerial nominees by President Akufo-Addo”.

The MP was battling for his life while these people were disseminating incorrect information on some social media platforms, which is the tragic aspect of the entire situation.

The family will not receive any of the district executives or the DCE, he warned. “We have no grudges against Party executives at the National and Regional level, so they have every right and access to activities of the late MP funeral activities,” Mr Basoah stated.
