The by-election for the Kumawu constituency will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, according to the Election Commission.
Once Philip Basoah, the district’s member of parliament, passed away, the Kumawu seat became vacant.
Nominations will be accepted at the Commission’s Setwere Kumawu District Office from May 2 through May 5, 2023, between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, respectively.

The National Patriotic Party has approved six candidates for the Kumawu constituency to run for the position.
Prior to the Kumawu by-election, the NPP has designated Sunday, April 23, 2023, as the day for choosing a candidate.
Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, the present director of health promotion at Ghana Health Services (GHS), Opanyin Yaw Baah, the former Kumawu MP, Obaapa Ama Serwaa, Ernest Anim, Dr. Philip Yaw Barnor, Edward Kofi Osei, Kwame Appiah Kubi, and Owusu Bempah are the candidates who have chosen to run on the NPP ticket.
