Sam George, a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Ningo Prampram Constituency, has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and accused its national executive candidates of giving money to delegates.

Sam George stated that the reason the event started late was because the candidates were lavishing the delegates with cash while speaking to the media at the Accra Sports stadium, where hundreds of NPP delegates had gathered to pick new national leaders.

“You would have assumed that the delegates from a party that has led this nation into an economic mess would have been quite decent given the amount of money being offered to lure them.

However, the sums of money being paid to delegates [are large] according to the reports we are hearing.

“The [NPP National Delegates] conference should have begun at 9:00am; it is already around 12:00, and the delegates are being held up in meetings with candidates who are handing them money.

You might be wondering where the government gets its funding considering that it is responsible for the disaster that our economy is in.

It appears that there are two Ghanas: one for NPP officials and one for the rest of us, claimed the National Democratic Congress lawmaker.

Mr. George attended the NPP Delegates Conference to convey the opposition National Democratic Congress’ goodwill to the ruling party (NDC).

Regarding the NPP’s catchphrase of “breaking the 8,” Mr. George thinks it is really a mirage. How would they split the eight?Instead, he continued, “they are shattering themselves into bits.

Sam George’s assertion follows one made in a similar vein by Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a candidate for the chairperson (Asabee).

Asabee accused one of the chairmanship aspirants, Stephen Ntim of vote-buying.

The notion that the other Stephen will triumph is incorrect. He is purchasing votes. I received the communication from a known individual. The message is with me.

He sent GHC 500 and added GHC 500, the accuser claimed. He claims to know those who are involved in the criminal activity but won’t give names.

I won’t give names since I know them and they know themselves, he said.

Asabee revealed that he had provided the delegates with funding to cover their travel and transportation (T&T).

“I only gave them T&T three times-150, 150 and 100,” he said.

He urged the delegates not to be swayed by the money being given to them, “Please stay focused. Remember 2024, you need a chairman that is focused” Asabee advised.
