Parliament celebrate former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan on his successful football career

Members of Parliament have praised ex-Black Stars player and international striker Asamoah Gyan for his successful football carreer and contribution to the country’s football development.

Gyan officially announced his retirement from football on Tuesday 20th June.

The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annor Dompreh said Asamoah Gyan was undoubtedly one of the best players in the past two decades who contributed immensely to the senior national football team and made impact in the lives of Ghanaians out of the pitch.

Reading a statement on the floor of parliament today, Annor Dompreh called for an erection of a monument in honour of the former striker and his successful career be studied in basic schools to inspire young generations.

The Member of Parliament for Wa Central Abdul Rashid Hassa Pelpuo noted that Gyan was the fulcrum of the Black Stars team in his illustrious playing career and must be honored for his good work.

The Speaker of Parliament Rt, hon Alban Bagbin congratulate Asamoah Gyan and encouraged Members of Parliament to support him by purchasing his autobiography titled ‘LeGyandary’ of which the money accumulated will be donated to Asamoah Gyan’s foundation.

Asamoah Gyan, a hero of Ghanaian football whose name became synonymous with African triumph, announced his retirement from soccer at the age of 37 in a move that sent shockwaves across the football globe.

At a ceremony in the energetic city of Accra, the prolific striker, Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with an amazing 51 goals, said goodbye to a career spanning more than 20 years.
