Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s vice president, has warned his followers from engaging in insult politics as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ramps up its flagbearership contest.
In order to stop the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from seizing back control after the election, Dr. Bawumia underlined the significance of maintaining party cohesion.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his intention to keep things civil during the internal election while speaking to supporters in the Ashanti Region. He revealed that he had instructed his supporters and spokespeople to remain silent when other candidates insulted them.
The Vice President emphasized the importance of designating the NDC as the “main enemy” and urged all NPP factions to cooperate for the sake of all.
“As a family, it is crucial for all factions to recognize that a united front is necessary to confront the NDC,” Dr Bawumia stated. He further added, “I have instructed all my supporters and spokespersons that we must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults.”
He stressed the party’s cohesion and declared that after the election, they will come together to fight the NDC as a single force.
On November 4, the NPP will choose it Flagbearer for the 2024 elections. Ten flagbearer candidates have been given the go-ahead to take part in the subsequent elections.
On November 4, 2023, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its presidential primaries to select a candidate for the general elections in 2024.
