Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress, has urged the Akufo-Addo administration of the New Patriotic Party to be truthful while describing the miseries of Ghanaians.

During a panel discussion on Good Morning Ghana monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com, Mr Gyamfi claims that despite being in control since 2016, the government has not kept a number of tantalizing promises.

Sammy Gyamfi recalled the numerous promises the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-led government made to Ghanaians before taking office, and he pointed out that making a promise is not the same as actually following through on it because words and deeds are not the same, “particularly for this dishonest, wasteful, and reckless Akuffo Addo-Bawumia government.”

This was meant to refute the assertion made by Dr. Okoe Boye, CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, that the economy of the nation was close to recovery.

“Don’t think that things are getting better. Things are getting worse,” Sammy Gyamfi said.

He urged the other panelists to be open and truthful when discussing the difficulties and sorrows of the nation’s population.

In its most recent study, the World Bank stated that in 2022, high inflation rates drove an estimated 850,000 Ghanaians into poverty.

According to the estimate, the country’s food security and poverty will suffer greatly as a result of the catastrophic economic crisis in 2022, which will be characterized by rising inflation rates.

Additionally, it showed that between January and December, year-over-year inflation rose from 14% to a staggering 54%, the greatest level since the early 2000s.
